They say this is the 30,000 island area but if they count all the land that is just below the surface it would be more like 100,000 islands. It’s a beautiful area but it will keep you on your toes winding in & out of narrow channels and around huge rocks.

Since we try to support the businesses that sponsor AGLCA we stayed at "South Bay Cove Marina" in Honey Harbor. Bill Snider and his staff extended the most professional service that you could expect. This is a first class facility at a very reasonable price. They promptly respond to a VHF call on 68 and assist your arrival with dock hands at your assigned slip. Along with the AGLCA membership discount, elec., water, cable TV, strong WIFI, free ice from the onsite ice machine, newspaper delivered to your slip, trash pick-up at your slip, 4 individual very clean showers and laundry amenities. The ships store offers a variety of items including shrink wrapped frozen meats and poultry. The on-site gourmet restaurant is a little pricey but very good. The grounds are well groomed and comfortable chairs on the deck to watch the sunset over the marina.

We traveled 28 miles to Fryingpan Island and Henry’s Fish Restaurant. The restaurant was first started in 1951 in a tent to provide fishermen a place to stop for a meal. Sallyann and Andrew off “Freedom” arrived soon after us for lunch together. Great to see them with their cat “Tut”. Andrew had a CD of areas to visit going forward so he and Tom were on the computer while Sallyann and I sat out back and chatted.

The “Bay” waters are crystal clear. We are "stern in" on this dock with the stern about 6’ off shore. It is 17’ deep under the boat and you can clearly see every crevice in the granite below the vessel. Pretty amazing, certainly a beautiful area to cruise at in a leisurely pace. It is going to be hot and humid for a couple days, we may seek out marinas for air condition in lieu of a anchorage until it cools down a little. Are we ever happy??
