Starting out

This web site provides a way for our family and friends to keep up with us on our Great Loop Trip.

The Great Loop is a 6600+ mile journey down the Mississippi river, up the Ohio River to the Tennessee River and the Tombigbee Waterway to Mobile, Alabama and easterly across the Florida pan handle. We will harbor hop down the west coast of Florida via Key West with a layover in Marathon. In the spring we head up the east coast to the Chesapeake Bay and New York Harbour, up the Hudson River, and across the Erie Canal, and Lake Ontario into Canada. We pass through the Trent-Severn Canal which is 240 miles and 44 locks. On our return we pass through Georgian Bay and North Channel to Mackinac Island and Lake Michigan. We then follow the Illinois river to the Mississippi and back home.

It is also know as the Great Circle Route and has been documented by many as the safest long distance cruising in the world. To have this opportunity to travel and see the eastern half the North America and the Canadian Canals by water is consider by us to be the adventure of a lifetime.
