We see these rock piles everywhere. Is it a tribute to the spirits?

Tuesday morning we left Fryingpan Island to follow the Small Craft Channel further North in Georgian Bay to Parry Sound. We went through 5 Mile Narrows and 2 Mile Narrows where you radio to all boats that you’re coming through & hope you don’t meet another boat who has entered from the other end. Thank goodness they were not “miles” long as their name suggests. We are at Big Sound Marina and the float plane runway is just behind us. We are enjoying the show. The grocery store that was nearby has moved quite a distance but they will pick you up so Tom and Ken on the next boat did that while I did some laundry. Only 1 washer and dryer so it took awhile. It is now hot and humid (98). We almost stayed in the air on the boat but then decided to get the bikes off and ride to town. On the way, Tom spotted a car show and had to ride back to the boat for the camera. In the meantime, I continued to town which is a long uphill incline. We had dinner at the Bay Street CafĂ© and watched the old cars go by as they left the show. Ice cream for dessert across the street pretending like we didn’t’ read the closed sign and went in anyway.

Tonight we are anchored at Shawanaga Island near Pointe Au Baril, MM 30, just off the Georgian Bay small craft channel. Today we launched the dinghy and explored for a couple of hours. When we would turn the dinghy engine off, and just drift, it was so amazingly quiet you hear birds flap their wings. While drifting today we heard a pack of wolf’s howling. It is just us and nature. Awesome! This a beautiful place to anchor, it is so tranquil. There is no sign of civilization for miles and miles. No development, no industrial facilities, no commercial facilities, just wilderness.

We have traveled 5500 miles to date on our trip and negotiated 111 locks.
