Lock #34 coming into the City of Fenelon Falls, Ontario

Us at the City of Fenelon Falls lock. A very beautiful community.

I don't know how Tom finds these, but he can't resist a photo opportunity. He is like a kid in a candy store when he sees these.

Me at Fenelon Falls, Ontario

Us at Fenelon Falls, Ortario. The weather is chilly, high of 63, July 1st

Canada Day Celebration on the lock wall in the City of Fenelon Falls, Ontario. A very fun 2-day. This is really a cool city to visit.

Fenelon Falls, Ontario

Us at the "Lakehouse Grill", in Fenelon Falls for dinner.

Today on the Trent-Severn. Very narrow, very shallow and unforgiving. We did meet two on-coming boats today. Very tricky.

We came up behind this on the Trent-Severn today, no way to pass it.

Lift lock at lock #36 Kirkfield, Ontario

Our TSW cruise from Young’s Point to Fenelon Falls was very pretty. We went through an area described as a little bit of Georgian Bay and a little bit of the 1000 Island area. It is tricky, tight and narrow and you must observe the twisting narrow channel without exception. It is unforgiving outside of the channel. There are so many little islands with a single home or cottage on each of these islands. What a beautiful setting. We spotted a little white Church on one island that was really interesting. The only method of accessing any of these dwellings or Church is by very small boat.

HAPPY CANADA DAY! July 1 is comparable to our 4th of July. We are at the lock wall above lock 34 in Fenelon Falls and we are really enjoying this town. We’re in the heart of this small populated area but with a downtown that appears to make the community much larger. The hospitality extended by the local businesses and the residents is just remarkable. It’s like we have reacquainted with old friends. It was truly a fun couple days tied to the lock wall right in the center of town and joining in the celebration. We also met several current loopers and other loopers that have either called Fenelon Falls their home or are visiting friends in Fenelon Falls. We highly recommend taking the time to visit this beautiful community. There are great opportunities for provisioning here as well as the many choices of restaurants. We chose Dockside Grille the first night which turned out to be great food, but the atmosphere as well as the service was less than acceptable. The 2nd night we dined at the “Lake House Grille” and we were very pleased with the prompt service and the food.
The weather has finally turned absolutely beautiful. The last 3-weeks of rain that we have experienced is part of a record breaking amount of precipitation for this area of Canada in recorded history. It’s nice to be part of history, but not that kind.

We left Fenelon Falls, Ontario this morning, continuing our venture toward Port Severn. Today was not a good distance day as we traveled only 26 miles and negotiated six locks. The local boat traffic has increased dramatically. We are tied to the wall at lock 40, a very very remote lock that I expect to be extremely quiet tonight. Today’s distance was challenged with very narrow, very shallow areas and a max speed limit of 6-MPH the entire 26 miles. We called it a day early and will address the continued journey northwest tomorrow. So far we are the only boat here on the lock wall tonight. They close at 7:00 PM and vacate the area. There is nothing with-in 11 miles of here except one gravel road leading to this lock and lock 41 a half mile away. Kind of spooky.
