Day 61 7th night at Pirates Cove

Friends Dave & Pam at restaurant "Down Yonder"

This is our 7th night at Pirates Cove Marina on the Tenn-Tom trying to keep informed on the Corps of Engineers on-line site “River Gauges” flood status of the water below us. Currently it appears the flooding trend is better than previously projected, although no home run, but improving a little quicker than reflected a few days ago. We are anxious to move on just like everyone else; however we will not be foolishly aggressive. Nevertheless, the boat traffic continues to back up. Today about 5 or 6 more additional boats pulled into this harbor to stay until conditions improve.

There are pictures of a homemade catamaran that a couple and their 3 girls are going to sail to the Caribbean. That should be interesting.

A female from Chicago is single handling a 22' sailboat to the Caribbean islands. She is an interesting person that we had a fun learning about her adventure during happy hour.

The weather has been perfect. Today we rode our bicycles 3-miles and had lunch at the only restaurant in town. When we returned we broke into a game of Rummy Cube and Tom was skunked on three games.

Happy hour tonight was held on a Kady-Krogen with about 7 couples. Tomorrow night is our turn.

  1. Tom:

I check in on your travels daily and have enjoyed the updates. There was an article in one of my boating magazines this month about two girls in their early 20's that recently made the loop in a 17' deep vee aluminum boat with a 60 hp merc. Can't even imagine. Be safe, have fun and keep posting.

  2. Ross and I are at Baypoint Marina in Panama City closing up the boat, and fly home in the morning. Will follow your travels on your blog. You must know every nook and crannie at Pirates Cove by now! Take care.
