Day 113, Ft Myers Jan 3

Fun evening on "Noah Genda"

Saturday morning we rode our bicycles to “Heavenly Biscuits”, a very unique little restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch only. Small, quaint, very popular specialty breakfast restaurant. Limited space so it gets crowded quickly. Too chilly to sit outside.

Saturday Pam and Frank on the boat “Tuggin Aweigh” who were next to us at Moss Marine invited us to ride with them to do some errands. They are from Taylorville, IL, towed their 25’ Ranger trawler to Ft Myers to spend the winter in southern Florida. They have their Dodge Ram pick-up truck for land transportation until they put it in storage. Off to Walgreens, Lowes, West Marine and the last stop at Beaches Fish Market where we picked up fresh shrimp and salmon. Tom also picked up a fluorescent light fixture at Lowes to install over our galley cook top. All I had to do was mention how dark ii was and that I couldn’t see what I was cooking. Once he completed the installation, the light was so bright I saw every smudge on the stove top and had to do some cleaning. Additionally we had the fear that the icemaker was the next appliance to fail. However after shutting it down for 24 hours (thawing/defrosting) removing the lower cover, vacuum out the coil, it is back in working order and performing like new. Just another maintenance item that requires attention.

Saturday we had the pleasure of connecting on the phone with Don and Susie Banks for an afternoon meeting on our boat and then dinner somewhere in the area. Don, Suzie, along with Jim and Suzanne Humphrey came by the boat for a fun evening of conversation, laughter and the opportunity to catch up on things happening at home. In Jim’s van we were all able to go to dinner at Bayfront Bistro at Snook Bight Yacht Club. They were very busy and only had outdoor seating under propane portable heaters which worked fine for us. We had the luxury of good visibility of a beautiful “Blue Moon” reflecting on the water of “Estero Bay” from our seating on the upper deck. The setting was gorgeous and the food was fantastic, definitely the best we’ve found in this area. We all had a great time. Thank you Don, Suzie, Jim & Suzanne for taking the time to drive over to Moss Marine and spend the evening with us.

Today is sunny but cool with a high of only 62, however, after reviewing the on-line weather report back home I’m not complaining!
