We had our dinner at MP Steamers which our Quad City friends Diane & Doug Johnson recommended. Once we were at the restaurant, we remembered, we had eaten there a couple of years ago when we were here by car. Everyone’s meal was excellent, additionally it is close to the harbor and reasonably priced.

We decided to spend a third night in Ludington. It is nice to have a couple of days where you don’t have to get up early and get busy for a departure. I tried to do laundry around 9am but I was 3rd in line for the 2 washers. Tom gave the boat a badly needed thorough scrubbing from top to bottom.

The U.S. Coast Guard Vessel “Hollyhock” was in Ludington Harbor for under hull repairs. While docked it was open for public tours a couple of hours a day. We walked over to it just adjacent to our tie-up at Ludington Municipal. We had a youthful female tour guide but the group was too large, her voice was very soft and we were disappointed in not really learning anything about the boat. The boat was an engineering marvel. The tour was 20 minutes long and not nearly long enough to adequately appreciate the vessel’

Later that same evening we rode our bikes to the popular Blue Moon Bistro for a nice dinner. This reasonably priced venue is just 3-blocks east and one block north of the marina on James Street. We also stopped in the beautiful art store operated by Todd Reed and his father. There professional photography is worth a visit if you are in town. Look at the vintage cameras on the top shelf of image.

In our humble opinion, this is one of the premier cities to visit on the Michigan coast of Lake Michigan.

This morning we departed Ludington with fellow loopers “Freedom” for a 45 mile cruise south to White Lake Michigan Municipal Marina. For anyone following, the marina Ellenwood Landing is right next door and it looks like that is the place to be. We walked to town with Andrew and Sally Ann for a Chinese buffet lunch. Later, Tom stayed on the boat, (on the computer I suspect) while the 3 of us took a ride on the 24 mile bike path. Great way to work off lunch!

Tomorrow our goal was to stay at Grand Haven but as luck would have it there is a huge annual Coast Guard Festival going on all week and week-end and there is absolutely no space for an outsider. Instead we’ll stop at Muskegon where Tom and Andrew have appointments to discuss an upgrade on their Raymarine electronics.

Just some interesting statistics off of Tom’s spreadsheet.

To date: 6088 miles; 2,487 gals of Diesel fuel; 111 locks; 21 states and 2 Canadian providences.
