That's all she wrote folks. Hand in your painting!

Lunch at the Captain's Table.

On Friday we passed the mouth of the Potomac River & would have loved to have visited Washington DC but that would be several hundred miles off the route & would be a minimum of 2 weeks so we decide not to take the time. Instead we went to Zahniser’s Yachting Center at Solomon’s Island. We biked to the Calvert Maritime Museum where an artist competition was under way. They had 2 hours to complete their painting and then the art was on display and judged at 1:00 and sold to anyone interested. Since I can’t draw a straight line, I admired their ability as we stood back and watched. The Drum Point Lighthouse was relocated to the Calvert Museum location and beautifully restored. This is one of the few remaining screwpile style lighthouses and it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, Sunday, “Mint Julep” and "Noah Genda" ventured on to the Chesapeake for the forecasted 1-2 feet waves. I had always read to add a foot to whatever they predict and that is right on! We were in 2-3’ and sometimes 4’ as we made our way up the Chesapeake, past the wide mouth of the Choptank River and into the Eastern River for our overnight anchorage. Looks like a well protected quite remote anchorage here off the Miles River and up Hunting Creek in about 10' of water. We are also out of the wind that just won't lay down. Tomorrow we are headed to St Michael's for a one night stay at St. Michael's Harbor Inn and Marina. And then on to Annapolis for a couple of days.
